Week of 8/21

Here is an overview of the homework for the week:

Reading- Continue to work with students on their letter names and sounds. I have included a sheet in the homework folder to match capital and lowercase letters. I will be assessing students the week before track break, and to earn a 3 on this standard students need to have mastered at least 40 letter names and 40 letter sounds.

This week's sight words: is, are, on (I have lowered the number to 3 as I felt 5 a week were too many!)

I have also included a Nursery Rhyme Activity Sheet with your child. We have done a few of these in class. Read the directions at the bottom to your child and see how they do without any coaching. Many students have had difficulty with what a sentence is. Please review any items your child completes wrong and have them fix it.

Math- I have included 2 math sheets. Please also work with your child on rote counting this week. Students are expected to be able to count from 1-20. If your child can count more that is great! You may want to work on counting by 5's or 10, or practice counting starting at any number between 1-100.
